Quite a lot is happening around here, so before we get into today’s action step, I’d like to take a moment to tell you about my 2018 Content Strategy Planner. You can buy this digital download in my shop, and it gives you a great place to brainstorm and plan everything you need for a great content strategy throughout the year.
*I recommend that you print double-sided when you print it out! 🙂
Back to the Challenge! Today’s ACTION Step is: Creating a Quarterly Play-by-Play
I like to section out my content strategy plans into quarters for the year instead of trying to do everything at once, because things can change as the year progresses, and I can better evaluate and adjust if I’ve chunked up the plan into 4 smaller sections.
Of course, we’ve already finished with January, but that’s okay. You’ve got two months left in the first quarter, and you’ve spent the first part of the quarter setting up a fantastic foundation for 2018.
What do you need to communicate in the next two months? Are you running any programs, webinars, courses, challenges, or events? Make sure you’re planning to create content on several different channels to promote these plans.
Today, you can make a list for Quarter 1 (Jan/Feb/Mar). Add each channel that you use (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/YouTube/Blog/etc.). Then, for each event you’re scheduled to do over this quarter, decide which channels you’ll use to promote them. Make sure you’re referencing the lists and plans we’ve created over the last month, because we’ve touched on our channels, our audiences, and other relevant topics that will help you to decide what to do here. You can do this on a piece of paper, in a Google Sheet, or on the Quarterly Planning Page in the Content Strategy Planner. Whichever you prefer.
This gives you a framework for creating your content calendar. That’s what we’ll focus on for Monday, so it’s important that you spend the time to figure out everything you want to do before we go through scheduling things out.
“A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement.”
Have a great weekend!
